The government has put its act together to see that the Company Law Board (CLB), the quasi-judicial body that gives verdicts on litigation and complaints that come under the purview of the Companies Act, gets a fresh set of members soon

THE government has reiterated that officers should not be given 10 out of 10 in a routine manner by the reporting or reviewing authorities, and this should be restricted to 20% of the officers under their supervision, and any grading of more than 8 for each attribute must be justified by giving reasons in writing in a separate sheet.
Numerical gradings are done in a scale of 1 to 10, where 1 refers to the lowest grade and 10 to the highest.

CALL it a battle of three IAS to clinch the prestigious post of vice chancellor (VC) at Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) university. Bihar’s principal secretary in home department Afzal Amanullah, retired IAS officer Najeeb Jung and Bihar’s state information commissioner Mohd Shakeel Ahmad have figured in the list of the short-listed candidates, according to media reports published on Sunday.

IAS wanted for 11 months long training on internal security

THE government seems to be serious in imparting training on internal security to senior IAS officers as well. It has asked for nominations of IAS officers below the age of 50 for participation of an 11-month-long training programme on defence or internal security at the National Defence College, New Delhi, beginning January, 2010.
Only such officers who would have completed a minimum of two years of service in the Centre in January 1, 2010, should be recommended, a circular by department of personnel & training (DoPT) under the ministry of personnel, public grievances & pensions said.
