About Central Industrial Security Force
The CISF came into existence in 1969 with a modest beginning, having three battalions, to provide integrated security cover to the Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) which, in those years, occupied the commanding heights of the economy. In a span of four decades, the Force has grown several folds to reach one lakh sixty three thousand and six hundred and thirteen personnel today. With globalization and liberalization of the economy, CISF is no longer a PSU-centric organization. Instead, it has become a premier multi-skilled security agency of the country, mandated to provide security to major critical infrastructure installations of the country in diverse areas. CISF is currently providing security cover to nuclear installations, space establishments, airports, seaports, power plants, sensitive Government buildings and ever heritage monuments. Among the important responsibilities recently entrusted to the CISF are the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation, VIP Security, Disaster Management and establishment of a Formed Police Unit (FPU) of the UN at Haiti.Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) falls under the Federal Ministry of Home Affairs and has its headquarter at New Delhi. CISF provides security to industrial units and establishments across India. Industries like atomic power plants, space installations, defence production units, mints, oil fields and refineries, major ports, heavy engineering, steel plants, barrages, fertilizer units, airports and hydroelectric/thermal power plants, and currency note presses producing Indian currency are protected by Central Industrial Security Force. CISF provides consulting services to some of the major industries of India like TISCO, Jamshedpur, SEBI Hqrs. Mumbai, Vidhana Soudha, Bangalore, Orissa Mining Co., Bhubaneswar, AP Assembly, Hyderabad, Bangalore Metropolitan Transport Corp, HIL Kerala, IB Thermal plant,Orissa, IARI, Delhi, NBRI, Lucknow and Electronics City, Bangalore. It also provides airport security. For getting the job of Constable in CISF a candidate should have passed 10+2 from a recognized university or board and should be physically & medically fit with good eye sight. For Assistant sub inspector job a bachelors degree is a must.
