Founded in 1961 by Hon’ble Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh , Union Minister for Agriculture, social activist, and farmer-leader, the college was established with the vision of providing quality higher education to both boys and girls in the predominantly rural area of Matiala. In 1967, the Government of Delhi took over the trusteeship of the college and relocated it to Karampura, and finally to its present campus in Raja Garden in 1976.
