About PIHMCT
It is submitted that this Institute was inaugurated in the year 1991, in the name of Pondicherry Institute of Hospitality Crafts (PIHC) and successfully reached its 25th anniversary, in this year. During the year 2003, the Institute was upgraded as Pondicherry Institute of Hotel Management & Catering Technology (PIHMCT) by offering 3 year Diploma courses in Hotel Management and Catering Technology, in affiliation with Directorate of Technical Education, Chennai. Then, from the academic year 2012-13, courses in degree programme of B.Sc., in Hospitality and Hotel Administration is being conducted in affiliation with National Council for Hotel Management & Catering Technology, Noida and IGNOU, New Delhi.
Presently, the Institute is functioning in the newly constructed premises with an area of 4 acres of land, having 5 multi storied building with 9 separate laboratories. Apart from the degree and diploma courses, skill training courses are also conducted in this Institute on various trades, to create employable skills under the centrally sponsored scheme of “Capacity Building for Service Providers”, as per the directions of Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India.
