Naval architecture or naval engineering, is an engineering discipline dealing with the engineering design process, shipbuilding, maintenance, and operation of marine vessels and structures. Preliminary design of the vessel, detailed design,construction, trials, operation and maintenance, launching and dry-docking are some of the work of a Naval Architect. A naval architect is an engineer who designs, constructs, repairs ships, boats, other marine vessels, and offshore structures, both commercial and military, including: Merchant ships, Passenger/vehicle ferries, Warships, Submarines and underwater vehicles, Icebreakers, High speed craft, Workboats, Yachts, Offshore platforms and subsea developments. To get hired as a Naval Architect a candidate should have studied - Diploma in Shipbuilding Engineering, Bachelor of Engineering in Naval Architecture, Master of Engineering in Hydraulic Coastal & Harbour Engineering, Diploma in Marine Engineering, Master of Technology in Ocean Technology, Master of Technology in Offshore Structures, Master of Technology in Marine Structure, Bachelor of Technology in Ocean Engineering & Naval Architecture, Master of Technology in Ocean Engineering & Naval Architecture.
