Central Rice Research Institute (CRRI) is located in Cuttack, Orissa. CRRI is one of the finest national research institutes under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR)
CRRI is situated about 35 kilometers from Bhubaneswar airport and 7 kilometers south-east of Cuttack railway station. CRRI conducts basic, applied and adaptive research on crop improvement and resource management for increasing and stabilizing rice productivity
CRRI research areas in Rice research includes plant breeding and genetics, plant pathology and mycology, entomology, nematology, physiology, biochemistry, blue green algae, food technology
CRRI has two research stations - Central Rainfed Upland Rice Research Station (CRURRS), Hazaribagh, in Jharkhand, and the Regional Rainfed Lowland Rice Research Station (RRLRRS), Gerua, in Assam.
CRRI till date has developed 74 rice varieties.
