Central Tasar Research and Training Institute (CTR&TI) Ranchi,was established in year 1964,under the administrative control of Central Silk Board (CSB), Government of Jharkhand.

The aim of Institute is to cater to the needs of Tasar Silk Industry of Tropical and Tribal Rural enterprise in the Country. The vision & mission of CTR&TI is to enhance the productive, quality of Vanya Silk, to develop excellence skill and entrepreneurship for strengthening the Vanya Silk Industry through Training in rural population by taking culture as a source of income generation.

The Central Tasar Research and Training Institute (CTR&TI) Ranchi,conducting activities of basic and applied research on Tasar Host Plants and Silk Worm for improvement and increase the rate of production and refinement in process for quality yarn and fabrics.The institute offers Postgraduate Diploma in Sericulture (Nom-Mulberry), and also conducting various informal training programmes like Tailoring.
