Directorate of Wheat Research (DWR) is coordinating the multidisciplinary and multi-locational activities of varietal improvement, resource management, and crop protection technologies across the diverse ecosystems for increasing and stabilizing the Wheat production. In the year 2014 Directorate of Wheat Research has been upgraded to an Indian Institute of Wheat and Barley Research by ICAR. The mandate of Directorate of Wheat Research - Organize, coordinate and monitor research for developing and identifying superior wheat and barley varieties having better quality and tolerance to biotic and abiotic stresses; Collect, acquire, evaluate, catalog, maintain and share working germplasm collections of wheat and barley.
