Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad was established on 23rd October 1977. Since then the service has been extended to the entire state in phased manner by installing Terrestrial Transmission of different capacities (HPTs, LPTs, VLPTs) at different parts of Telangana.

Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad Regional Network Telugu has taken new name as "DD Saptagiri". This service is viewed in India and various parts of the world.

Objective of Doordarshan Kendra Hyderabad is to provide adequate coverage to the diverse cultures and languages of the various region of the country through appropriate programmes in the regional languages. It pays special attention to the fields of education and spread of literacy, and educated rural people about agriculture implementation by telecasting programmes.
