4. Eligibility Criteria: Officers of State Police/ Central Para Military Forces or Central Police Organization
(i) holding analogous post in the pay matrix of Level-9 Rs. 53100-167800/-(Revised), Pay Band 2 Rs. 9300- 34800 and Grade Pay Rs. 5400/- ( Pre Revised) or
(ii) Inspectors in the pay matrix of level-7 Rs. 44900- 142400 (Revised), PB-2 Rs.9300-34800+ GP Rs.4600/- (Pre Revised) or equivalent with three (03) years regular service in the grade.
5. Desirable: Two years experience as Dy.S.P Lines/ Quarter Master.
6. Deputation Period: Period of deputation including the period of deputation in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding this appointment in the same or some other organisation or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed three (03) years.

The Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA), trains officers of the Indian Police Service, who have been selected through an All India based Civil Services Examination. The trained officers will be posted as Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) in their respective states under whom the other sub-ranks of police force will be working. The recruitment of sub-ranks such as Constables,Sub-Inspectors, Deputy Superintendents of Police is each states prerogative, and will be done by respective state Director Generals of Police. The IPS cadre is controlled by the Home Ministry of the Government of India and the officer of this service can only be appointed removed by an order of the President of India
Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel National Police Academy (SVPNPA) was established on 15th September 1958. SVPNPA is the national institute for training of Indian Police Service (IPS) officers before they are sent to their respective state cadres to carry out their duties. It is located in Hyderabad. The National Police Academy (NPA) trains officers of the Indian Police Service, who have been selected through the All-India Civil Services Examination. Other than Basic Training Course for IPS officers the Academy conducts three In-service Management Development Programmes for officers of Superintendent of Police, Deputy Inspector General of Police and Inspector General levels. SVPNPA is affiliated to Osmania University for conducting courses on police subjects for IPS officers.
