Preliminary Examination, Examination Exam, and Interview / Personality Test determine the selection for Indian Engineering Services. Eligible candidates qualify in the UPSC ESE 2022 Preliminary Examination and will appear in the Mains Examination. Candidates’ marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will be counted to determine their final selection list. After passing the main exam and personality test, candidates qualify for placement on the IES Merit List. Positions in engineering are filled from the IES Merit List.
