Eligibility Norms & Educational Qualifications

• Technician - 1 (Pay Level 2): 10th Standard / SSC with minimum 55% marks plus ITI National Trade Certificate (NTC) / National Apprenticeship Certificate (NAC) in relevant trades (Glass Blower, Fitter, Electrician, Machinist, Instrument Mechanic).
• Project Associate / JRF: Master's degree in Natural or Agricultural Sciences / M.V.Sc. or Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology or Medicine. Valid GATE score or CSIR-UGC NET percentile is mandatory for enhanced fellowships.

Selection Methodology & Multi-Tier Exam Pattern

CSIR-CGCRI recruits through transparent, multi-tier evaluation frameworks:

1. Scientific Appointments: Rigorous academic screening by the statutory Screening Committee based on research citations, patents, and Ph.D. quality → Technical Seminar presentation before institutional scientific peers → In-depth personal interview before the Board of Assessment.
2. Technical Assistant & Technician Selections:
   • Stage I: Trade Test: Practical hands-on qualifying test evaluating trade proficiency, instrumentation handling, or workshop operations. Candidates who qualify Stage I advance to Stage II.

Pay Scale, 7th CPC Allowances & Promotion Hierarchy

All permanent appointments at CSIR-CGCRI are governed by the 7th Central Pay Commission (7th CPC) Pay Matrix:

• Scientist: Pay Level 11 (₹67,700 – ₹2,08,700). Initial monthly gross in Kolkata (Class-X city) approx. ₹1,18,000 to ₹1,28,000.
