The Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is a mandatory, qualifying stage for all RRC Level 1 posts, designed to assess the basic physical capability required for the job. Failure in the PET disqualifies the candidate, irrespective of their CBT score.

PET Requirements for Male Candidates:
  • Weight Lifting Task: Lift and carry a weight of 35 kilograms for a distance of 100 meters in 2 minutes, in one chance, without putting the weight down.
  • Running Task: Run a distance of 1000 meters (1 km) in 4 minutes and 15 seconds, in one chance.

Candidates must satisfy both requirements to be declared qualified in the PET stage. Separate, less strenuous criteria are specified for female candidates.
