Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Candidates must satisfy either Option A or Option B below:
Option A (Master's Degree Route)
- Qualification: Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in English, English Literature, Linguistics, Film Studies, or related disciplines from a recognized Indian or accredited foreign university.
- Exam Requirement: Must have qualified UGC-NET, CSIR-NET, SLET, or SET. Ph.D holders under UGC Regulations 2009/2016 are exempt from NET/SLET/SET.
- Pre-2009 Ph.D Exemption: Candidates registered for Ph.D before 11 July 2009 are exempt if the Ph.D was in regular mode, evaluated by two external examiners, with open viva-voce, and they have published two research papers (one refereed) and presented two papers at sponsored seminars.
Option B (Foreign University Ph.D Route)
- Qualification: Ph.D from a foreign university/institution ranked among the top 500 globally in QS, THE, or ARWU (Shanghai Jiao Tong University) rankings at any time.
Relaxations
- SC, ST, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), and Differently-Abled candidates get a 5% relaxation in qualifying marks (50% instead of 55%).
- Ph.D holders who completed Master's degree before 19 September 1991 get a 5% relaxation.
Selection Process & Screening Clause
- Step 1 (Online Registration): Candidates must register via the online Google Form link by 5:00 PM on 03 November 2026.
