Recruitment Overview

Chennai Metro Rail Limited (CMRL), a Joint Venture of the Government of India and the Government of Tamil Nadu, is hiring experienced Civil Engineering professionals for its Metro Rail Project in Chennai. This recruitment notification (CMRL/HR/CON/DEP/01/2026) invites applications for high-level managerial positions on Deputation or Contract basis from Indian Railways, Metro, or other Government organizations.

Recruitment Type: Direct Recruitment (Interview-based). This is not a competitive written examination. The selection is based on an Interview followed by a Medical Examination.

The vacancies are for Civil Engineering roles in Elevated Construction or Underground Construction sections.

Note on Pay: Deputationists have an option to draw pay from their parent organization plus allowances or equivalent IDA pay scale in CMRL.

Eligibility Criteria

Educational Qualification

• Mandatory: B.E./B.Tech (Civil) from a recognized University/Institute approved by AICTE/UGC.
• Preferred: M.E./M.Tech (Civil / Construction Management).

Age Limit & Cut-off Date

• Age limit is calculated as on 04-02-2026.
• Specific age limits are listed in the vacancy table above.
• Age relaxation is applicable for reserved categories as per Govt. of Tamil Nadu norms:
  • SC/ST: +5 Years
  • MBC/DNC/BC: +2 Years
  • PwD: +10 Years (Over and above prescribed limit)
  • Ex-Servicemen: Length of service + 3 Years

Experience Requirements (Summary)

• CGM/GM Level: Experience in execution of large infrastructure, Underground/Elevated construction projects (Highways, Railways, Metro). Specific knowledge of diaphragm walls, deep excavation, and FIDIC contracts required.
• AGM/JGM/DGM Level: Experience in Metro/Railway projects. Must have handled contract management and site execution.
• Manager/DM/AM Level: Experience in Viaducts, Bridges, Tunnels, Underground Stations. Knowledge of Indian & Euro Codes.

Selection Process

This is a direct recruitment based on an Interview. No written exam is conducted.

1. Screening/Shortlisting: Based on eligibility, experience, and uploaded documents.
2. Interview: Candidates will be evaluated on knowledge, skills, comprehension, attitude, and aptitude.
3. Medical Examination: Final selection is subject to passing the CMRL-prescribed medical test.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview.
