Recruitment Overview

The Punjab State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has released the official notification for the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2026. This is a mandatory state-level eligibility examination for candidates aspiring to become teachers for Classes 1 to 5 (Paper 1) and Classes 6 to 8 (Paper 2) in government and aided schools across Punjab.

This is a Competitive Examination conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions. The number of vacancies for teaching posts is released separately by the Punjab Education Department. Qualifying PSTET makes you eligible to apply for those future vacancies. Eligibility Criteria (In-Depth)

1. Nationality & Age Limit

  • Nationality: Candidates must be Citizens of India. (Non-Punjab domicile candidates are treated under the General category).
  • Age Limit: There is no specified minimum or maximum age limit for appearing in PSTET 2026. (However, age limits will apply when applying for specific teacher recruitment jobs later).

2. Educational Qualification

For Paper 1 (Classes 1–5):

  • Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • OR Senior Secondary with 45-50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE regulations).
  • OR Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

For Paper 2 (Classes 6–8):

  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
  • OR 4-year integrated B.El.Ed / B.A.B.Ed / B.Sc.B.Ed or equivalent.

Selection Stages

The selection process for the eligibility certificate involves a single stage:

  1. Offline Written Examination: OMR-based test for Paper 1 or Paper 2 (or both).
  2. Document Verification: Upon qualifying (usually at the time of future recruitment).

  3. Enter your valid Email ID and Mobile Number to generate an OTP.
  4. Verify the OTP and create login credentials.
  5. Login and fill in personal details, address, and educational qualifications.
  6. Select the paper(s) you wish to apply for (Paper 1, Paper 2, or Both).
  7. Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-size photograph and signature in the prescribed format.
  8. Pay the application fee online.
  9. Submit the form and download/print the confirmation page for future reference.

Correction Window: Candidates can edit limited fields (Name, DOB, Photo, Signature, Exam Centre) between 21 – 23 February 2026.
