Recruitment Overview

The Punjab State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) has released the official notification for the Punjab State Teacher Eligibility Test (PSTET) 2026. This is a mandatory state-level eligibility examination for candidates aspiring to become teachers for Classes 1 to 5 (Paper 1) and Classes 6 to 8 (Paper 2) in government and aided schools across Punjab.

This is a Competitive Examination conducted to determine the eligibility of candidates for teaching positions. Eligibility Criteria (In-Depth)

1. Nationality & Age Limit

  • Nationality: Candidates must be Citizens of India. (Non-Punjab domicile candidates are treated under the General category).
  • Age Limit: There is no specified minimum or maximum age limit for appearing in PSTET 2026. (However, age limits will apply when applying for specific teacher recruitment jobs later).

2. Educational Qualification

For Paper 1 (Classes 1–5):

  • Senior Secondary (10+2) with at least 50% marks and passed/appearing in the final year of a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • OR Senior Secondary with 45-50% marks and 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE regulations).
  • OR Graduation with a 2-year D.El.Ed or Bachelor of Education (B.Ed).

For Paper 2 (Classes 6–8):

  • Graduation and 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).
  • OR Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1-year Bachelor in Education (B.Ed).
