Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

The single JRF position is open in an ISRO-funded research project titled "Development of in situ engineered additive manufacturing technique for fabricating Inconel 718 parts."

• Junior Research Fellow (JRF):
• Essential Qualification: M.Tech / M.E. or equivalent degree, OR B.Tech / B.E. or equivalent degree with a valid GATE Score.
• Discipline: Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Computer Science Engineering, or related areas.
• Experience: Preferably 2 years of relevant experience in Engineering or Technology from a recognized organization.
• Age Limit: 35 years (no age relaxation or cut-off date stated in the notification).
• Applicants must be Indian nationals meeting the essential qualification.

Desirable Skills:

• Expertise in signal processing and image/video analysis
• Understanding of Additive Manufacturing and Laser-based processes
• Expertise in Python and MATLAB
• Experience or familiarity with Manufacturing Processes, Superalloys, and Digital Control

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• Selection will be made by a selection committee, whose decision will be final.
• If the number of shortlisted candidates called for the interview is large, the committee may restrict candidates to a reasonable limit after considering qualifications and experience over and above the minimum prescribed in the advertisement.
• The selected candidate will have to join duty immediately on receipt of the offer.
• The fellowship may be terminated with a 30-day notice before completion of the tenure if performance is not deemed satisfactory.
• No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for attending the interview.

Contract Duration & Project Details

This is a temporary contractual position for a period of 89 days, subject to extension as per IIT Bhilai norms. The appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions of the Institute/funding agency (ISRO) as and when required. The position is available immediately.

The project involves developing an in-situ engineering methodology for deposition and online control of Inconel 718 parts through the Laser-Additive manufacturing process. The Direct Energy Deposition system at IIT Bhilai will be used to develop online quality monitoring and control strategies using a machine learning-based approach. The Principal Investigator is Dr. Purnendu Das, Assistant Professor, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Bhilai.
