Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must meet the educational qualifications and experience requirements prescribed by the UGC Regulations, 2018. The Age Limit is generally up to 40 years as on 01/01/2026 for Assistant Professors, with relaxations applicable.

1. Educational Qualification

  • Professor: Ph.D. degree in the relevant discipline with a minimum of 10 research publications in peer-reviewed/UGC-listed journals and a total research score of 120. Minimum 10 years of teaching/research experience.
  • Associate Professor: Ph.D. degree + Master's degree with 55% marks + Minimum 8 years of experience + 7 publications and research score of 75.
  • Assistant Professor: Master's degree with 55% marks + Must have cleared NET/SET/SLET (unless exempted as per UGC rules). OR Ph.D. from a top 500 foreign university.

2. Age Limit & Relaxation

  • Assistant Professor: Upper age limit is 40 years (as of 01/01/2026).
  • Relaxations:
    • SC/ST: 5 years
    • OBC (Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years
    • Differently-abled (PwD): 10 years (except Physical Education)
  • Note: Stipulations on experience and age may be relaxed for exceptionally brilliant candidates.

3. Mandatory Requirements

  • Language Proficiency: Candidates must have proficiency in the medium of instruction (Bengali and English).
  • NOC: Candidates currently employed must apply through proper channel and produce a "No Objection Certificate."

The university was established on 1 November 1960 by the Kalyani University Act 1960 of the state of West Bengal.
