Eligibility Criteria

Essential Qualification

• Master’s degree with 55% marks (or an equivalent grade in a point scale) in a relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.
• Candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC, CSIR, or similar test accredited by the UGC like SLET/SET.
• OR candidates who have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the UGC Regulations (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D. Degree), 2018.

Ph.D. Exemption Details

• Candidates registered for Ph.D. prior to July 11, 2009, are exempted from NET/SLET/SET requirement provided they fulfill specific conditions (Award of Ph.D., evaluation by two external examiners, open viva voce, publication of 2 research papers, 2 conference presentations).
• Ph.D. degree from a University/Institution ranked in the top 500 in World University rankings (QS, THE, ARWU) is also a valid qualification.

Post-Wise Desirable Qualification

Eligibility for Development Studies

• Essential: Development Studies, Development Economics, Sociology, Economics, Political Science.

Eligibility for Public Administration

• Essential: PG with 55% in Public Administration / Political Science / Economics / Local Governance / Development Administration.
• Desirable: Ph.D and NET/SLET in these disciplines with teaching experience.

Eligibility for Social Work

• Essential: Master of Social Work in Community Development (or) Youth Development.
