Assam Government Holiday 2026: The holiday calendar for Assam is a vibrant reflection of the state’s multicultural fabric and its deep-rooted agrarian traditions. Check here the complete list of public, gazetted, and restricted holidays in Assam for 2026. These holidays are officially notified by the General Administration Department (GAD), Government of Assam, and apply to all state government offices, educational institutions, and banks under the Negotiable Instruments (NI) Act.
Assam, the gateway to Northeast India, is famous for its tea gardens, silk, and the mighty Brahmaputra river. The state celebrates three types of Bihu—Rongali (Bohag), Kongali (Kati), and Bhogali (Magh)—marking different stages of the agricultural cycle. It shares borders with Bhutan and Arunachal Pradesh to the north; Nagaland and Manipur to the east; Meghalaya, Tripura, Mizoram, and Bangladesh to the south; and West Bengal to the west. Its capital is Dispur.
