Educational Qualification:
Private Secretary: Stenographer in Central Government or State Government or Supreme Court or High Court or Subordinate Courts or Statutory/Autonomous bodies having pensionary benefits, holding (i) analogous posts on regular basis in parent cadre or department; or ii) a post in the Level 6 (35400-112400) of the pay matrix with 5 years regular service in the grade.
Tribunal Master: Stenographers of the Central Government or Armed Forces or State Government or Supreme Court or High Courts or District Courts or Statutory/Autonomous bodies having pensionary benefits, holding 1) the analogous posts on regular basis in parent cadre or department; or (ii) post in the level 4 of the pay matrix (25500-81100) with 10 years regular service in the grade.
Junior Accounts Officer: Officers from Central Government (a) (i) holding analogous posts on regular basis in the parent cadre or Department; or i) 29200-92300) rendered after appointment thereto on regular basis, and (b) who have undergone training in cash and accounts work in the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management or an equivalent course from a recognised Institute and having two years experience of cash accounts and budget work. with six years service in level-5 in the pay matrix.
Assistant: Officials working under Central Government or State Government or Supreme Court or High Courts or Subordinate Courts or Statutory/Autonomous bodies having pensionary benefits:
(a) (i) holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent| cadre or department; or ii) Upper Division Clerk in Level 4 of Pay Matrix (25500- 81000) with 10 years regular service in the grade in the| Central Govt or State Government or Supreme Court or High Court or Subordinate Courts
(b) possessing the following educational qualifications and experience; (i) Degree from a recognized university; and (11) having 2 years experience in establishment, administration or Accounts.
Upper Division Clerk (UDC): Officers from the Central Government or State Governments or Tribunals or Commissions or Statutory Bodies or Courts: G) (ii) holding the post in the Pay Matrix Level-2 (19900 63200) with eight years regular service. Note The period of deputation including the period of deputation (including short term contract) in another ex-cadre post held immediately preceding the appointment in the same or some other organisation or department of the Central Government shall ordinarily not exceed 3 years. holding analogous posts on regular basis.

The Armed Forces Tribunal Act 2007, was passed by the Parliament and led to the formation of AFT with the power provided for the adjudication or trial by Armed Forces Tribunal of disputes and complaints with respect to commission, appointments, enrolments and conditions of service in respect of persons subject to the Army Act, 1950, The Navy Act, 1957 and the Air Force Act, 1950. It can further provide for appeals arising out of orders, findings or sentences of courts- martial held under the said Acts and for matters connected therewith or incidental thereto.
Besides the Principal Bench in New Delhi, AFT has Regional Benches at Chandigarh, Lucknow, Kolkata, Guwahati, Chennai, Kochi, Mumbai, and Jaipur.
With the exception of the Chandigarh and Lucknow Regional Benches, which have three benches each, all other locations have a single bench. Each Bench comprises of a Judicial Member and an Administrative Member.
The Judicial Members are retired High Court Judges and Administrative Members are retired Members of the Armed Forces who have held rank of Major General/ equivalent or above for a period of three years or more, Judge Advocate General (JAG), who have held the appointment for at least one year are also entitled to be appointed as the Administrative Member.
