Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) was established on 23rd November 1986. BIS is the national Standards Body of India working under Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food & Public Distribution, Government of India. Bureau of Indian Standards headquarters is located in New Delhi. It also works as WTO-TBT enquiry point for India. Major function of BIS is the formulation, recognition and promotion of the Indian Standards. All foreign manufacturers of products who intend to export to India are required to obtain a BIS product certification license. National Institute of Training for Standardization (NITS) - It is a training institute of Bureau of Indian Standards. It is functioning from Noida, Uttar Pradesh. The primary work of NITS is providing :- In-House Training Programme for Industry, International Training Programme for Developing Countries, Training Programme to its employees.
