There are lots of career opportunities after engineering in government sector. They can work in the following central government run enterprises - Bharat Earth Movers Limited, National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC), Airport Authority of India (AAI), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) & Engineers India Limited (EIL). Engineering candidate can also appear for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam and Staff Selection Committee (SSC) exam for recruitment in various government departments. They can also appear for railways exam conducted by the Railway Recruitment Board. For joining Defense Service a candidate has to appear for Combined Defense Service Exam conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). Candidates will be placed as IAS, IFS, IPS and IES officer after qualifying civil service exams conducted by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). They can also become Associate Professor or Assistant Professor in concerned discipline.
