Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development Recruitment 2026: Vacancy, Eligibility & Selection Process

Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development (CRRID), an autonomous research institute, was registered as a scientific and educational charitable society under the Indian Societies Registration Act, 1860, in the Union Territory (UT) of Chandigarh in July 1978. The CRRID Society was collectively conceived by a group of like-minded academicians drawn from different disciplines and backgrounds to promote research, publication, development, training and similar creative activities in the northwest region of India.

The founding members of the Governing Body of the Society to whom the Rules and Regulations of the Society and the management of its affairs were entrusted are as follows: Prof. J.P.S. Uberoi, Prof. of Sociology, Delhi School of Economics, Delhi University, Delhi; Shri Dewan Berindranath, Director, Press Asia International, New Delhi; Dr. S.K. Mangal, Managing Director, Punjab State Electronics, Corporation Ltd.; Dr. J.N. Joshi, Prof. & Head of the Department of Education, Panjab University, Chandigarh; Shri. Tilak Sehgal, Managing Director, Meters & Instruments Ltd., Chandigarh; Shri. Rashpal Malhotra, Adviser, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., Chandigarh; Shri Rajeev Dhand, Chartered Accountant, Chandigarh.

The first President of CRRID Society was Shri P.N. Haksar, former Principal Secretary to former Prime Minister who remained president of CRRID society from 1980 to 1998 followed by Shri Shri Keshub Mahindra, Chairman Emeritus, Mahindra and Mahindra, Mumbai from 1998-2020. Presently, Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi, former Union Minister of Human Resource Development, serves as the President of the CRRID Society with effect from February 2021.
