The Chitradurga District Co-Operative Central Bank Ltd., Chitradurga was established in the year 1955. The Bank was covering whole of the undivided district (Chitradurga & Davanagere) with 9 Taluks till 2002. After bifurcation, the area of operation of this Bank extends to the whole of the Chitradurga district with 6 taluks. Hiriyur taluk is having irrigation facilities and remaining 5 taluks are rain fed areas. The major crops of the District are Jowar, Cotton, Groundnut, Sunflower , Maize, etc., The Bank has totally 14 Branches of which 7 branches are located at Taluk Head Quarters and the remaining 7 in rural area. Farmers of the district are being financed through 157 Primary Agriculture Cooperative Societies ceded to this Bank

The total area of the district is 770702 ha of which 387100 ha is under cultivation. About 75734 ha is under minor irrigation i.e., through bore wells. There are 2,90,577 agricultural families in the district, of which 1,99,547 are small and marginal farmers, 60,063 are medium farmers with 2 to 4 ha land holding and remaining 30967 are big farmers with more than 4 ha lands. Among them farmers belonging to SC/ST small and marginal farmers are 66490, medium farmers constitute 17509 and big farmers are 6540. In 152 PACS 330608 become members of the PACS. of which 108743 belongs to SC/St communities. The Bank is able to finance to 52078 members through our 147 PACS of which 12498 are SC/ST beneficiaries.
