Applications are invited in prescribed format from eligible Indian candidates for deputation to WHO, Hqs, Geneva on a full time fixed term contract basis initially for a period of two years at the position of a technical officer at a grade equivalent to the P5 level in the professional grading scale of WHO. 1. Post Name: Technical officer 2. Functional Knowledge and Skills: Describe the essential knowledge and the skills specific to be position Demonstrated solid knowledge of the areas related to herbal medicines, in particular the policies, regulation, norms & standards, and research of herbal medicines. Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills in English. 3. Essential: PG degree in Traditional Medicine recognized under IMCC Act 1970 or HCC Act 1973. 4. Desirable: MPH or Ph.D. in public health or relevant health-related subject 5. Experience: Essential : i. At least 10 years experience, some of which gained in international exposure, in research on herbal medicines directly supported to national herbal pharmacopeia. ii. Solid experience in the areas of national herbal pharmacopeia and essential herbal medicines as well as relevant national policies, regulations, projects, and norms & standards of herbal medicines. Proven solid experience in collaboration with multilateral, bilateral, and regional development institutions at the International level. 6. Desirable: Working experience in a senior capacity in the area of herbal medicines / Traditional medicines at the national level. 7. Other Skills: Good presentation skills. Knowledge of office software applications. Knowledge of Excel. Standard Microsoft word processing and spreadsheet packages. 8. Use of Languages Skills: Having excellent knowledge of Reading, Writing, and Speaking of English and French language.

The Ministry of Ayush was formed on the 9th of November 2014 with a vision of reviving the profound knowledge of our ancient systems of medicine and ensuring the optimal development and propagation of the Ayush systems of healthcare. Earlier, the Department of Indian System of Medicine and Homoeopathy (ISM&H) formed in 1995, was responsible for the development of these systems. It was then renamed as the Department of Ayurveda, Yoga, and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (Ayush) in November 2003 with focused attention towards education and research in Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, and Homoeopathy.
Objectives:
Promote the traditional and indigenous systems of medicine, such as Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha, Sowa-Rigpa, and Homoeopathy, through policy formulation, awareness campaigns, and educational programs.
Promote research and innovation within the Ayush sector, aiming to strengthen the evidence base, enhance quality, and ensure the global relevance of traditional Indian medicine.
Guarantee access to safe and high-quality Ayush products and services, through stringent quality control measures and regulatory standards.
Promote Ayush systems internationally, through exchange programs, seminars, and workshops, aiming for global acceptance and integration of traditional Indian medicine.
Focus on effective human resource development to ensure skilled professionals in Ayush practices, through education, training, and capacity building.
Support the growth of the medicinal plants sector and ensure widespread access to Ayush services and products, aligning with sustainability goals and enhancing public health.
