Special Assam TET 2026 – Apply Online for Teacher Eligibility Test

The Government of Assam, Department of School Education has announced the Special Assam Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) 2026 for candidates aspiring to become teachers in Lower Primary (LP) and Upper Primary (UP) level schools. This special examination is being conducted exclusively for Bodo, Garo, Manipuri, and Hmar medium schools to address the shortage of Language-1 teachers in these mediums across the state.

Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Teacher (Lower Primary Level)

• Essential: Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications:
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 2-year Diploma in Education (Special Education)
  • Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
• Relaxation: 5% relaxation in academic marks (HSSLC or Graduation) for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) candidates.

Eligibility for Teacher (Upper Primary Level)

• Essential: Candidates must have any one of the following qualifications:
  • Graduation + 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education
  • At least 50% marks in Graduation + B.Ed.
  • At least 55% marks in Post Graduation (or equivalent grade) + 3-year integrated B.Ed.-M.Ed.
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 4-year Bachelor in Elementary Education (B.El.Ed.)
  • Senior Secondary (or equivalent) with at least 50% marks + 4-year B.A./B.Sc. Ed. or B.A. Ed./B.Sc. Ed.
  • Graduation with at least 50% marks + 1-year B.Ed. (Special Education)
• Relaxation: 5% relaxation in academic marks for SC/ST/OBC/MOBC/PWD(PH) candidates. PWD candidates must have a minimum 40% degree of handicap certified by competent authority.

Residency Requirement

• Essential: Candidates must be permanent residents of Assam.
