About Directorate of Higher Education Goa

The Directorate of Higher Education is responsible for facilitating the overall growth of higher education in the state of Goa and currently administers 38 higher institutions in the state.

In addition to the administrative services, DHE has taken several key initiatives to enhance academic standards in Goa. These include DISHTAVO, an online e-content portal where the entire syllabus of 8 undergraduate programs is available for free. This entire in-hours project is being recognised nationally and is included in the NSDL library. The NET/SET mentoring programme for prospective teachers and researchers has been highly successful.

In line with adopting technologies for e-governance, currently, 38 HEIs are brought on board on a single unified academic management system which includes centralized admissions, library management, student and teacher management, and 30 other modules.

In addition, annual State Teachers Awards, setup of smart classrooms in various HEIs, development of digital language, commerce & economics laboratories, and faculty development programs are among some of the many initiatives that are currently ongoing.

With these and many more initiatives, we intend to create a culture conducive to creativity and bring Goa onto the world stage of being known as the knowledge hub.

The Directorate of Higher Education is working tirelessly to achieve access, equity, quality, affordability & accountability in higher education which are also the pillars of National Education Policy 2020. To provide quality education to its stakeholders, the Directorate has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with some of the globally reputed Institutes like the Indian Institute of Social Science-Mumbai (IISS), Indian Institute of Science-Bangalore (IISC), Indian Institute of Technology-Goa (IIT), Indian Institute of Technology- Gandhinagar (IIT), and Goa Institute of Management (GIM).
