About District Court Junagadh

Junagadh district is well known for organizing the first ever lok adalat of the country at the Una in the year 1982, which laid the foundation of Legal Aid Activities and settlement of cases through compromise. The concept of settling cases through compromise introduced through this Lok Adalat as led to considerable reduction of cases particularly in the State of Gujarat. At present, In Junagadh District, 5 Appellate Courts and 19 Subordinate Courts are functioning and presided over by the Judicial Officers in Junagadh District as well as in 08 taluka places. The two floor building of District Court at Junagadh is more than 100 years old having historical and archaeological value. It houses 14 courts with wide launge. In the open ground in front of main building there is beautiful and artistic fountain adding to the glory of building. After formation of Junagadh District as separate judicial district, Mr. K M Bhatt had presided over as the first district and sessions judge, who held the post from 18/07/1959 to 08/05/1960 and thereafter, number of prominent judicial officers have served as District Judge.
