About District Court Tonk

Tonk District is located in North-Eastern part of Rajasthan. It is situated on National Highway No.-12 at distance of 100 k.m. from Jaipur. It is surrounded by five Districts i.e. in North – Jaipur District, In South - Bundi & Bhilwara District, in East - Ajmer District and in West - Sawai-Madhopur District.

It is important to mention here that the first founder ruler of Tonk was Nawab Mohd. Amir Khan who conquered it from Balwant Rao Holkar in 1806. Later, the British Government gained it from Amir Khan. As per the treaty of 1817, British Government returned it to Amir Khan.

In 1947, on the Partition of India whereby India and Pakistan gained independence, the Nawab of Tonk decided to accede to the Union of India. Subsequently, most of the area of the state of Tonk was integrated into the Rajasthan state, while some of its eastern enclaves became part of Madhya Pradesh.
