Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) was launched in year 2005, by a nodal agency Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JnNURM), Government of Gujarat.

The Objective of Gujarat Urban Development Mission (GUDM) is to support Urban Renewal and urban infrastructure development in the given time frame for better living standards, amenities and creating a congenial environment for the people to live and work in the urban areas of the State, by providing financial, technical and technological support for creating of modern infrastructure and bridge the knowledge and information in the field of modern urban technology and management, to promote the transition of ULBs from services provider to active facilitators, by the active engagement of the civil society, citizen group and private sectors.
