Job Profile & Responsibilities of a JNV PGT

As a Post Graduate Teacher in a Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, your primary role revolves around imparting high-quality education in your specialized subject at the senior secondary level. Key responsibilities include:

JNV PGT Eligibility Criteria (2026)

Candidates must meet stringent eligibility criteria laid down by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti:

Educational Qualifications:

• For PGTs in various subjects (e.g., English, Hindi, Physics, Chemistry, Maths, Biology, History, Geography, Economics, Commerce, Computer Science, etc.):
• Two-Year Integrated Post Graduate Course from a Regional College of Education of NCERT in the concerned subject; OR
• Master’s Degree from a recognized university with at least 50% marks (or equivalent grade) in the concerned subject.
• For PGT (Computer Science):
• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (B.E.) or Technology (B.Tech.) in Computer Science/IT OR
• B.E./B.Tech. from any branch with a Master's Degree in Computer Science OR
• M.Sc. in Computer Science / MCA with Graduation/Post Graduation in Physics/Maths/Statistics/Chemistry/Purely Graduate Degree in Computer Applications or BCA.

Additional Qualifications (for most PGTs):

• Degree/Diploma in Education (B.Ed. or equivalent) is a mandatory requirement for most PGT posts. However, PGT (Computer Science) might be exempted if they meet specific degree qualifications.

Age Limit:

• The upper age limit is generally stipulated as 40 years for fresh candidates.
• Age relaxation is applicable for candidates belonging to SC/ST, OBC, Women, and other reserved categories as per Government of India rules.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern
