About Kendriya Vidyalaya Rourkela

Rourkela Steel Plant is one of the Navaratna Company of Govt. of India. It was set up in collaboration with West Germany. It is being operated by the Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL). Rourkela Steel Plant is the sponsoring authority of Kendriya Vidyalaya Rourkela. It caters to all the educational needs of the children of Rourkela Steel Plant exclusively. It also provides seats to needy children of the vicinity under the Right to Education Act as per the provision of Govt. of India.

Kendriya Vidyalaya Rourkela was established in 1982 under project sector of RSP & affiliated to CBSE, New Delhi. It is located in the prime residential locality of the Steel City. It has all the modern facilities with state of art infrastructure. Class Rooms are well equipped with Smart Boards/Projectors and high speed Internet connections. Two of our computer labs having special provision for N-Computing facilities for making the teaching learning activities interesting and innovative.

At present the strength of the school is more than 1060 students and 40 teaching & non-teaching staff members. It has two sections from class I to X and one section each from class XI & XII. Our main objective is to pursue excellence and set pace in the field of school education. It promotes innovation and experimentation in school education in collaboration with educational bodies of CBSE & NCERT.
