Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility for Technician Apprentices (Civil Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering)

  • Essential: Three Years full time Diploma in Engineering/Technology in relevant discipline granted by a State Council or Board of Technical Education. Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam in 2022/2023/2024/2025 are only eligible.
  • Experience: Candidates should not have experience of one year or more in any job.
  • Other Requirements: Candidates must register in the Apprenticeship Portal and quote enrollment number. Candidates should not have undergone or presently undergoing Apprenticeship Training in CSIR or elsewhere. Sandwich diplomas, private diploma, part time/Distance/short term/certificate courses etc., are not acceptable.

Eligibility for Graduate Apprentices (Non-Engineering Graduate - Oceanography, General Administration)

  • Essential: Full Time Graduate degree (Non-Engineering) in relevant discipline granted by a recognized University/Institutions. Candidates who have passed the qualifying exam in 2022/2023/2024/2025 are only eligible.
  • Experience: Candidates should not have experience of one year or more in any job.
  • Other Requirements: Candidates must register in the Apprenticeship Portal and quote enrollment number. Candidates should not have undergone or presently undergoing Apprenticeship Training in CSIR or elsewhere. Sandwich diplomas, private diploma, part time/Distance/short term/certificate courses etc., are not acceptable.

Age Limit

  • Technician/Diploma: Minimum 18 years and maximum 24 years
  • Graduate/Degree: Minimum 21 years and maximum 26 years
  • Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC (NCL), up to 10 years for PwBD (additional relaxation for SC/ST/OBC as applicable). Upper age limit relaxable for Ex-Servicemen as per extant rules.

  • Appear for walk-in-interview on 22 January 2026 at CSIR-NIO Regional Centre, Kochi with filled application form (available in advertisement/website), original certificates, one set of self-attested photocopies, proof of DoB, Aadhaar Card, passport size photograph.
  • Submit all required documents; failure to do so will result in candidature not being considered.
