Educational Qualification: M.Sc
Applications are invited for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in an ICMR-funded research project with following details:
1. Title of the project: Study on the anti-Alzheimer activity of coumarin-based hybrid drugs: Synthesis and acetylcholinesterase inhibition assay.
2. Principal Investigator: Prof. Dr. S. Mitra
3. Name of the position: Junior Research Fellow
4. No of Post : 01
5. Essential qualifications: M. Sc. (Chemistry) or equivalent degree with a minimum of 60% aggregate score (6.5 grade points on a scale of 10). For SC/ST category, the candidate must have secured a minimum of 55% aggregate score (6.0 grade points on a scale of 10) in masters’ degree. In addition, the candidate must have qualified CSIR-UGC National Eligibility Test JRF-NET including LS/ Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Non-NET/GATE candidate can also apply for the same. However, selection of these candidates is subject to the approval of funding authority
6. Fellowship: The fellowship is valid for one year (1 yr.) initially with a fixed salary of Rs. 31,000/- per month (plus HRA as admissible) if candidates(s) met educational qualification and eligibility criteria as per DST OM No. SR/S9/Z-08/2018 dated 30.01.2019. However, Non-NET/GATE candidate may be considered subject to the approval and financial concurrence from the funding authority.
7. Duration: One year (may be extended further subject to the approval of funding authority)

Selection Procedure
1. Only shortlisted candidates will be called for interview.
2. The date and time of interview will be intimated via email or through NEHU website. Shortlisted candidates should appear for interview in person with originals academic transcripts, proof for date birth, Aadhar card and PAN with one set of photocopies of all the documents.

North Eastern Hill University (NEHU) was established in the year 1973. NEHU is located in Shillong, Meghalaya. The university has two campuses: Shillong and Tura in Meghalaya. It is the UGC's University with Potential for Excellence (conferred in 2006). NEHU was established as a regional university for the states of northeast India, including Meghalaya, Nagaland, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram, and had given birth to Nagaland University in 1994 and Mizoram University in 2001.
The university has the following schools (departments/centers of studies): School of Physical Science, School of Social Science, School of Life Science, School of Humanities & Education, School of Human & Environmental Science; School of Economics, Management & Information Science; School of Engineering & Technology.
