Punjab Information and Communication Technology Corporation limited (Punjab Infotech) was incorporated on dated 27th March, 1976 under the name of Punjab State Electronics Development & Production Corporation Limited under the Companies Act, 1956.Background:The Electronics Era (1976-2001)Punjab Infotech started as Punjab State Electronics Development & Production Corporation Ltd. (PSEDPCL) in 1976. The major role of the Corporation was to develop, operate and promote electronics and electrical industrial development. The Corporation had set up eight subsidiary companies in the field of electronics and electrical industrial activities when these activities required license from the Government.The Information Technology Era (2002-2009):With the dismantling of license permit raj and emergence of Information Technology, the Corporation was rechristened as Punjab Information & Communication Technology Corporation Limited in the year 2002. The Corporation’s focus shifted to the promotion of IT Industry and undertaking IT and e-Governance projects.
