Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP), located in the northern suburbs of Mumbai, is a remarkable ecological oasis and one of the few national parks in the world situated entirely within city limits. Spanning approximately 104 square kilometers, it serves as the "green lungs" of the metropolis, providing a critical buffer against urban pollution and housing two major freshwater sources, Tulsi and Vihar Lakes. The park is renowned for its dense deciduous forests and impressive biodiversity, including more than 1,000 plant species, 274 types of birds, and a significant population of elusive Indian leopards. Visitors are often drawn to its unique blend of nature and adventure, featuring dedicated lion and tiger safaris, a popular toy train called the Van Rani, and serene boating facilities.
