The State Child Protection Society (SCPS), Bihar is a statutory body established under the Integrated Child Protection Scheme (ICPS) of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, Government of India. Functioning under the Department of Social Welfare, Government of Bihar, the society is dedicated to ensuring the safety, security, and overall well-being of children in need of care and protection as well as those in conflict with the law. SCPS Bihar works to strengthen child protection structures across the state by coordinating with district-level units, Child Welfare Committees (CWCs), Juvenile Justice Boards (JJBs), and other stakeholders involved in the juvenile justice system.
The society implements various child protection measures such as family-based care, foster care, sponsorship, adoption, and rehabilitation programs. It also promotes awareness about child rights, prevents child labor and trafficking, and provides support services to vulnerable children through institutional and non-institutional care mechanisms. By building a protective environment through community participation and capacity building, SCPS Bihar plays a pivotal role in safeguarding children from neglect, exploitation, and abuse, ensuring their right to survival, development, and dignity.
