Chhattisgarh state was carved out of Madhya Pradesh on 1st November 2000 and Regional Forensic Science Laboratory was upgraded as State Forensic Science Laboratory, Raipur by the Chhattisgarh Government on 11-12-2002. State forensic science laboratory has been making consistent strides in the field of scientific investigation. It has been providing prompt and reliable scientific services in the administration of the criminal justice system in Chhattisgarh.

State forensic science laboratory is situated in Police line campus, Tikarapra, Raipur (C.G.). There are three regional forensic science laboratories and 9 Scene of crime units functioning. at Bastar, Sarguja and Bilaspur.
