The Uttarakhand Ayurved University came into existence by the Government of Uttarakhand under the Uttarakhand Ayurved University Act, 2009.The purpose of the university was to give ensuring, effective and planned instruction,teaching,research and development in Ayurved.

After the Uttarakhand state was formed, many efforts were made by Uttar Pradesh state government to bring socio-economic manipulations to backward state mostly with difficult geographical conditions. The state has powerful feelings of flora and fauna even with its economic backwardness. Keeping such a scenario in mind the state government have taken major steps in this direction and to set up its first Ayurved University in state which may prove to be an essential step in international field of Ayurved.
