Vivekananda Parvatiya Krishi Anusandhan Sansthan (VPKAS) was established in Kolkata on 4th July 1924, and named as Vivekananda Laboratory on 1st october 1974, and then ICAP took over it as VPKAS. VPKAS is an autonomous organisation under the department of Agricultural Research and Education, Ministry of Agriculture, Government of India .
The institution mandate for improving productivity and quality of important hills crops on conservation and efficient utilization of natural resources, Development of ecologically sound and economically viable agro-production, protection and post-harvest processing Basic and strategic research , transfer of technology, research on extension methodology, Organizing specialized training programmes and consultancy of hill agriculture.
At VPKAS there are lots of employment opportunities for B Tech and Agricultural Students in Departments of Crop Improvement / Seed Production / Genetic Resources / Crop Physiology Biotechnology / Crop Management / Cropping System / Soil Management / Water Management / Fodder Production / Management of Crop Diseases / Statistics and Computer operators and lots more.
