Post-Wise Vacancy & Pay Scale

Working Hours: Mumbai positions – 3 hours per day (5 days a week), shift either 1000–1300 hrs or 1400–1700 hrs. Chennai and Kolkata positions – 2 hours per day with slot to be fixed as per mutual convenience within working hours.

Educational Qualification

• Assistant Medical Officer (AMO): MBBS Degree from any recognised Indian University/Institute recognised by the Medical Council of India (MCI).
• Experience: Minimum 5 years of post-qualification experience. Certificates for the same must be provided. In case of self-practice, sufficient documentary evidence in support of experience is required.
• DGMA Approval: The applicant must hold a valid Directorate General of Maritime Administration (DGMA) approval at the time of application. If selected, DGMA approval must remain valid throughout the contract tenure.

Age Limit

Upper age limit is 62 years as on 01.09.2026 (Date of Birth should be on or after 01.09.1964). After claiming any age relaxation, the applicant's maximum age should not exceed 62 years as on 01.09.2026.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

1. Shortlisting: Candidates will be shortlisted based on eligibility criteria for Educational Qualification, Experience, and valid DGMA Approval. If a large number of applications are received, SCI reserves the right to shortlist candidates in the ratio of 1:10 (candidates per vacancy) based on higher post-qualification experience.
2. Personal Interview: Conducted physically at SCI Head Office, Mumbai (for AMO – SCI Head Office and AMO – SCI MTI), at SCI Chennai Office (for AMO – SCI Chennai), and at SCI Kolkata Office (for AMO – SCI Kolkata). The Selection Committee from Mumbai Headquarters may join virtually via video conferencing as required.
3. Tie-Breaker: In the event of a tie in interview marks, the candidate with more years of post-qualification experience will be placed higher in merit.

Note: No TA/DA will be paid for attending the interview. Selected candidates must undergo the Corporation's pre-recruitment medical check-up prior to appointment.

Important Instructions

• The engagement is purely on a contract basis for 2 years with provision for two 3-month extensions at the sole discretion of SCI. It shall not lead to permanent appointment.
• The contract may be terminated by either side with 30 days' notice or payment of notice pay in lieu thereof.
