The selection process for the IBPS Clerk (CRP Clerks) involves two main stages of online examination, followed by a mandatory Language Proficiency Test (LPT).

  • Stage I: Preliminary Examination (Qualifying): An online objective test consisting of three sections (English, Numerical Ability, Reasoning Ability) for 100 marks. Marks are only for screening and are not counted for the final merit list.
  • Stage II: Main Examination (Final Merit): An online objective test consisting of four sections (General/Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude, Quantitative Aptitude) for 200 marks. The marks obtained in the Main Examination alone determine the final provisional allotment.
  • Interview Stage: The Interview stage was discontinued for Clerical Cadre recruitment in Public Sector Banks (PSBs) in 2015. There is no Interview for the IBPS Clerk post.
  • Local Language Proficiency Test (LPT): Candidates provisionally allotted to a bank are required to qualify for the LPT if they have not studied the Official Language of the State/UT in 10th or 12th standard. This test is mandatory and qualifying in nature.
  • Clarification: The final selection is based solely on the merit achieved in the Main Examination.
