UP Police Sub Inspector undergoes a probationary period of 2 years from the date of joining.

- During probation, the officer’s performance, conduct, and suitability are evaluated
- Probation may be extended by up to 1 year in exceptional circumstances
- Confirmation is granted by the competent authority (Director General of Police, UP) upon satisfactory performance
