Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification
Appointments will be made on deputation / absorption / re-employment basis only. The following eligibility conditions apply:
For BSF Serving Officers (Deputation):
- Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised University or Institute
- Five years' experience rendered after appointment in Group-'A' service in the Border Security Force, with a minimum of three years' experience in dealing with law
For Central Government / State Government / UT Administration Officers (Deputation):
- Holding analogous post on a regular basis in the parent cadre or department OR with five years' regular service in Level-10 (Rs. 56,100–Rs. 1,77,500) in the Pay Matrix
- Bachelor Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognised University or Institute
- Minimum six years' experience in dealing with law
For Ex-Servicemen (Re-Employment):
- Armed Forces Personnel due to retire or to be transferred to reserve within one year, holding equivalent post and having requisite experience and qualifications prescribed for deputation
- Such persons would be given deputation terms up to the date of release from Armed Forces, and thereafter may be continued on re-employment
Additional Conditions:
- Applicants must be in medical category SHAPE-I as specified in BSF (Law Officers) Rules-2023 and amended Rules-2026
- Persons from civil posts or Bar must complete 24 weeks of basic training on initial appointment covering law, office procedure, accounts, and such other subjects as determined by the Director General, BSF
- Appointed officers will be governed by the BSF Act and Rules and liable to be posted anywhere in India
- Officers will have to wear uniform as specified in Border Security Force Manual Volume-VII
- Maximum age limit for appointment by deputation shall not exceed 56 years as on the last date of receipt of applications
Selection Process & Screening Clause
- No written examination is conducted for this recruitment. Selection is based on departmental nomination through the prescribed proforma.
- Eligible and willing officers will be nominated by their sponsoring departments through the proforma as per Annexure.
- Attested CR dossiers for the last five years must accompany each nomination.
- Concerning departments must verify and certify that the particulars furnished by the candidates are correct and that no disciplinary or vigilance case is pending or contemplated against them.
- It must also be confirmed that, upon selection, the officer will be relieved of his duties from the parent cadre.
- The nomination, along with all supporting documents, must reach the office of Dy. Inspector General (Pers), Directorate General, BSF, Block No. 10, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi-110003 within 60 days of publication of the advertisement in Employment News.
- Officers selected will be governed under DOP&T OM No. 6/8/2009-Estt (Pay-II) dated 17th June 2010, as amended from time to time.
- No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in any stage of this selection.
- Officers who volunteer and are sponsored for the post will not be permitted to withdraw their name later.

- Attested CR (Confidential Report) Dossiers for the last five years

- Vigilance / Disciplinary Clearance Certificate
- NOC from parent cadre / department
- Valid Category / Caste Certificate in Central Government prescribed format (if applicable)
- Two recent passport-size photographs and Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN)
