Age Limits & Government Relaxations
Age thresholds are calculated as on the closing date of the respective advertisement:
- Scientist (Level 11): Upper age limit is 32 years.
- Senior Scientist (Level 12): Upper age limit is 37 years.
- Principal Scientist (Level 13): Upper age limit is 45 years.
- Technical Assistant (Level 6): Upper age limit is 28 years.
- Technician (Level 2): Upper age limit is 28 years.
- Junior Secretariat Assistant (Level 2): Upper age limit is 28 years.
- Project Associate - I & II: Upper age limit is 35 years.
- Senior Project Associate: Upper age limit is 40 years.
- Project Scientist - I: Upper age limit is 35 years; Project Scientist - II is 40 years.
Statutory Category-Wise Age Relaxations
- Scheduled Castes (SC) / Scheduled Tribes (ST): 5 years relaxation.
- Other Backward Classes (OBC - Non-Creamy Layer): 3 years relaxation (valid OBC-NCL certificate in Central format required).
- Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD): 10 years (15 years for SC/ST PwBD, 13 years for OBC PwBD).
- Ex-Servicemen: As per Central Government guidelines (military service period plus 3 years).
- CSIR Regular Departmental Candidates: Up to 5 years relaxation for permanent positions.
Citizenship & Domicile Regulations
All candidates must be citizens of India, or subjects of Nepal/Bhutan, or Tibetan refugees who settled in India prior to 1st January 1962. There are no local state domicile restrictions for CSIR-NEERI positions—candidates from all states and union territories of India are eligible to apply on equal footing.
Documentary Verification Checklist
- Proof of Date of Birth: Secondary School Examination (Class X) Certificate / Birth Certificate.
- Degree & Mark Sheets: Consolidated mark sheets and provisional/original degree certificates for 10th, 12th, B.Sc./B.Tech, M.Sc./M.Tech, and Ph.D.
- National Exam Scorecards: GATE scorecard or CSIR-UGC NET Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) / Lectureship certificate (mandatory for enhanced project stipends).
- Experience Certificates: Clear employment certificates specifying designation, pay scale/stipend, duration, and nature of R&D or technical duties.
- NOC from Present Employer: Candidates serving in Central/State Government or PSUs must produce a No Objection Certificate at the time of interview.
