CA stands for Chartered Accountant. A Chartered Accountant is a person who has specialized knowledge and skills in the field of accountancy, management and audit. A candidate can become a Chartered Accountant by pursuing the CA course which can be done after completing 12th Standard. The CA selection process starts with the foundation program which tests the basic knowledge of a candidate in English, statistics, economics and accountancy. After completion of the foundation level the candidate is required to work under a practicing Chartered Accountant and pursue the course of CA intern to enhance his knowledge in the field of accountancy, taxation and law along with costing. Once a candidate has successfully completed the final qualifying level, he can start practicing as a Chartered Accountant. A Chartered Accountant can do work of inspection of account, representing the organization in cases, appealing to various tribunal and courts on behalf of the organization. Chartered Accountants can head the finance department or even become officials who can carry on independent audit for various companies. A Chartered Accountant can perform the following work - Accounting, Auditing, Taxation, Cost Accountancy, Special company work, Executors and Trustees, Directorship, Company secretarial work, Investigation and Shared valuation work.
