About ICAR-CMFRI Recruitment 2026

ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute (ICAR-CMFRI), Kochi, has released a recruitment notification (Advt No. F.No. KSBB/1-1/2026-27) for two contractual positions under the project Comprehensive mapping and impact assessment of invasive species along the coastline of Kerala. The two posts are Research Assistant (Rs. 25,000 per month) and Field Assistant/Technical Assistant (Rs. 20,000 per month, consolidated). Both positions are purely on contract for one year from joining or until project termination, whichever is earlier. Interested candidates must submit biodata and scanned documents through the prescribed Google Form by 19 November 2026, and only shortlisted candidates will be called for the offline walk-in interview at ICAR-CMFRI, Kochi, on 26 November 2026 at 10:00 AM.

Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

• Research Assistant (1 Post):
  • Postgraduate in Fisheries Science / Marine Science / Marine Biology / Zoology
  • Desirable: Experience in identification of marine organisms (plankton and benthos), water and sediment quality analysis, data analysis, working knowledge of GIS and remote sensing tools (QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine), swimming/diving experience, and willingness to travel for field sampling and data collection
• Field Assistant/Technical Assistant (1 Post):
  • Graduate in Fisheries Science / Marine Science / Marine Biology / Zoology / Botany
  • Desirable: Postgraduate in Fisheries Science / Marine Biology / Marine Science / Environmental Science / Zoology; experience in identification of marine organisms (plankton and benthos), water and sediment quality analysis, data analysis, working knowledge of GIS and remote sensing tools (QGIS, ArcGIS, Google Earth Engine), swimming/diving experience, and willingness to travel for field sampling and data collection
• Age Limit: Below 35 years as on the date of notification (05.11.2026). Age relaxation is available as per Government guidelines.

Selection Process & Screening Clause

• Only candidates shortlisted via email will be permitted to appear for the offline walk-in interview.
• The walk-in interview will be conducted at ICAR-Central Marine Fisheries Research Institute, Kochi, on 26 November 2026 at 10:00 AM.
• The notification does not describe specific interview marking or shortlisting criteria; the decision of the Director, ICAR-CMFRI, is final and binding.
• Candidates with no relative at ICAR/CMFRI must furnish an Annexure-II declaration on the interview date.

• Valid Category / Caste Certificate in Central Government prescribed format (if applicable)
• Annexure-I (Application Format) with passport-size photograph, duly signed
• Annexure-II (Declaration) duly signed — including relative-at-ICAR declaration if any relative is an ICAR/CMFRI employee
• No Objection Certificate (NOC) from present employer, if currently employed
• Approved Conversion Table/Formula for CGPA/OGPA marks — must be produced at reporting; otherwise candidature will not be considered
• One Valid Photo ID Proof (Aadhaar / Voter ID / PAN) to be produced at interview
• Two recent passport-size photographs

Important: Without submitting all original certificates in scanned form via the Google Form by 19.11.2026, applicants will not be allowed to appear for the interview. If a relative's employment at ICAR/CMFRI is communicated only on the interview date, the candidate will not be interviewed.
