Eligibility Criteria & Educational Qualification

For Direct Recruitment / Absorption:

• Essential Qualification: Degree or equivalent in Civil Engineering from a recognized University.
• Essential Experience: Five years of experience in executive cadre in Planning / Construction / Design / Maintenance, preferably of Port and Marine Structures in an industrial / commercial / government undertaking.
• Diploma Pathway: Diploma in Civil Engineering from a recognized University / Institution may also be considered as per prescribed recruitment rules.
• Age Limit: Upper age limit of 35 years for direct recruitment. The crucial date for determining eligibility is 22 November 2026.
• Period of Probation: 2 years.

For Deputation:

• Absorption/deputation will be of officers holding analogous posts or the feeder post (Assistant Engineer in the scale of Rs. 9,100–15,100 with 5 years regular service; or Assistant Engineer with 2 years regular service and combined regular service of 8 years across the scales of Rs. 9,100–15,100 and Rs. 8,600–14,800) in the respective discipline of Civil Engineering Department in a Major Port Trust.

Selection Process & Absorption/Deputation Route

The method of recruitment is as follows:

1. Primary: Promotion from Assistant Engineer (Civil) in the scale of Rs. 9,100–15,100 with 5 years regular service in the grade.
2. Failing Promotion: Absorption by direct recruitment.
3. Failing Both: Absorption / deputation from officers holding analogous posts or feeder posts in other Major Port Authorities.

The selected officer will be appointed on absorption or deputation basis and will be governed by the terms and conditions prescribed by the Central Government. No TA/DA will be paid to candidates for the application process.
