About District Court Samastipur

Earlier, Samastipur Judgeship used to function as a sub-division of Darbhanga Judgeship. Later, seeing the mammoth size of the Darbhanga Judgeship and keeping in view the convenience of people, the present Judgeship of Samastipur was created as an independent Judgeship. In the year 1977, in the month of October, Hon'ble Mr. Justice Shambhu Prasad Singh of Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Patna, inaugurated the Judgeship. It started functioning with all the bonhomie & sobriety at the same time. Further, with the expansion in the number of cases over the period of time another Sub-Division with its court named Rosera was created, which started functioning w.e.f. 16/5/1986 and was situated at Samastipur only.

Then after two years, on 20/08/1988 the Rosera Sub-Division was shifted physically to Rosera itself and was inaugurated by the former Hon'ble Mr. Justice R. N. Lal of Hon'ble High Court of Judicature at Patna. On a similar pattern a sub-division, namely 'Dalsingsarai' was also created which started functioning w.e.f. 20/12/86 with its office & court physically situated at Samastipur.
